On Friday, 19 September, the city’s comedy lovers gathered at the Alliance Française offices for a night to remember, Ble Mutandwa’s one-man show. And trust us, Ble did not disappoint.

The seasoned comedian turned the stage into a masterclass on how to command a room solo. From the moment he stepped into the spotlight, his calm, confident presence told you everything you needed to know, this was a man who had put in the hours, honed his craft, and now owned his moment.

Now, let’s be real, dark humour isn’t everyone’s cup of tea. But Ble made sure everyone got a taste of the fun. His delivery was sharp, fearless, and unapologetic as he wove jokes around every taboo topic under the sun. The crowd couldn’t help but laugh, gasp, and shake their heads as he danced on the line between hilarious and outrageous and somehow, always landed the punchline. Tickets were going for just $5, and the turnout proved that Bulawayo’s comedy scene is alive and kicking. The room buzzed with laughter, playful banter, and that unmistakable vibe of people having a genuinely good time.

Though billed as a one-man show, Ble shared the stage with two crowd favorites, Mbongeni and D’Juni. Mbongeni opened the night with pure fire, doubling up as host and comedian, roasting the audience with zero mercy, no one was safe! D Juni followed up, keeping the momentum high with his own brand of hilarious storytelling that had the crowd in stitches.

Then came the main act. Ble took the mic, and for the next hour, it was a barrage of bold, dark, and wildly entertaining comedy. He didn’t just tell jokes, he performed them, letting the audience see the world through his twisted, clever lens.

By the time the lights dimmed, it was clear: Bulawayo comedy is on the rise. The city of Kings and Queens is building something special, one laugh at a time. Ble’s show wasn’t just entertainment, it was a statement. A reminder that our local comics have the talent, the guts, and the passion to take centre stage anywhere.

It was a special night one, for the books and those who were there will be talking about it for a long time to come.
