In a significant move towards bridging the digital divide, five schools in Emakhandeni–Luveve Constituency have received Starlink internet kits.

The beneficiary schools are Emakhandeni Primary, Mafakela Primary, Josiah Chinamano Primary, Fusi Primary, and Nzwananzi Primary.

This initiative is part of Phase two of the Emakhandeni Luveve Community Connect Programme, aimed at accelerating digital inclusion and aligning with Zimbabwe’s National Development Strategy 2 (NDS2) and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The programme builds on Phase one, which connected Luveve Youth Centre, and now expands access to critical digital infrastructure within the education sector.

Writing on his social media at the handover, Hon. Discent Bajila, Member of Parliament, emphasised the importance of community participation in development.

“The programme is designed to ensure universal access to high-speed internet across all schools in the constituency.

“This initiative is a testament to our commitment to democratic governance and the devolution agenda.”

Hon. Bajila further stated, “We believe that digital inclusion is key to unlocking the potential of our communities.

” By providing internet access to these schools, we are not only enhancing education but also empowering our youth with the skills needed to thrive in a digital economy.”

The intervention supports NDS2 priorities on digital economy transformation, inclusive service delivery, and human capital development, contributing to SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure), and SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities).

Emakhandeni Primary school got an extra boost with two months of subscription paid by Hon Bajila in recognition of community votes in its favour.

Phase three of the programme is set to roll out in Q2 2026, with support from the Ministry of ICT, Postal and Courier Services. This initiative is a game changer for the schools and the community, empowering them with digital skills and internet access.

The Emakhandeni Luveve Community Connect Programme is part of broader efforts to expand internet access, empower communities with digital skills, and position citizens to participate meaningfully in Zimbabwe’s transition towards an upper middle income economy.
