The Mayor of Bulawayo, His Worship Mayor David Coltart, alongside City Fathers, visited the Club to pay their respects to the late Executive Members, Retired Colonel Kenneth Mhlophe, Sifiso Siziba, and Nkani Khoza, as well as devoted Club member Mbalenhle Sibanda.

The visit was a heartfelt gesture of solidarity and compassion as the City of Bulawayo joined the Highlanders family in mourning the tragic loss of these cherished members of the Club.

The City of Bulawayo on Sunday visited the Highlanders Football Club and the families of the deceased to pay its respects following the tragic death of three of the Club’s executive members and a supporter in a road traffic accident on Thursday, 23 July 2026.

Highlanders Football Club Chairman Retired Colonel Kenneth Mhlophe, Vice Chairman Sifiso Siziba, Executive Committee Member Finance Nkani Khoza, and Club supporter Mbalenhle Sibanda died in a road accident along the Harare-Bulawayo Highway, plunging the country into mourning.

His Worship, Senator David Coltart, the Mayor, Deputy Mayor Councillor Edwin Ndlovu and the Town Clerk, Mr Christopher Dube, signed the book of condolences at the Highlanders Club House on behalf of the City.

To honour the departed quartet, the City has provided them with burial spaces at the revered Lady Stanley Cemetery, with each family also receiving US$1,000 to assist with burial arrangements.

The City has also allowed the use of Barbourfields Stadium for the combined funeral service, which was held today Monday, 27 July 2026.
