Hwange Local Board Chairperson Councillor Peterson Ncube spent the last two days engaging key stakeholders and inspecting council projects in a renewed push to strengthen service delivery and support local economic growth.
Yesterday, Councillor Ncube first met with cottage industry operators in Hwange. The discussions gave small-scale entrepreneurs a platform to share ideas on business development, operational challenges, and how their work can better contribute to the town’s economy. The Chairperson reaffirmed Council’s commitment to supporting entrepreneurship and creating an enabling environment where local businesses can thrive. Later that day he met with Council’s Workers Committee to address issues around staff welfare, workplace efficiency, and how to improve services to residents. He emphasised that open communication between management and employees is essential for a responsive local authority.
Councillor Ncube toured several ongoing development projects to assess progress on the ground. Among the sites visited was the newly established vegetable market stall at Empumalanga’s DRC section. The facility is expected to give vendors a more organised, clean, and conducive trading space while making it more convenient for residents to access fresh produce.
The engagements and site visits reflect Hwange Local Board’s broader drive to monitor project implementation, improve livelihoods, support small businesses, and ensure developments meet community needs. Councillor Ncube said continuous engagement with stakeholders remains critical if Council is to build an inclusive, development-oriented institution that meets the expectations of the Hwange community.
