Highlanders Football Club announced on the 23rd of June that Willsgrove Food Market has officially joined the club as its Nutritional Partner with immediate effect, marking another key milestone in the team’s Centenary Journey.
The partnership covers both the Highlanders FC senior men’s team currently competing in the Premier Soccer League and the Highlanders Royals senior women’s team, ensuring that nutrition and player welfare are prioritised across the entire club.
Under the terms of the agreement, Willsgrove Food Market will supply fresh fruit to both squads, providing a consistent source of natural vitamins, hydration and recovery support that aligns with modern football’s focus on performance through proper diet.
Highlanders FC Chief Executive Officer Mr Denzil Mnkandla welcomed the collaboration and described it as a significant step forward for player care at the club as he informed the media.
“Our players are our greatest assets. This partnership is a massive step forward in how we prioritise the health and performance,” Mnkandla said.
Highlighting how nutrition plays a direct role in reducing injuries, improving recovery times, and maintaining high energy levels throughout a demanding season.
Speaking on behalf of Willsgrove Food Market, Branch Manager Sikhumbuzo Gwebu expressed pride in partnering with one of Zimbabwe’s most iconic and historic clubs.
“We are proud to partner with Highlanders FC as their Official Nutritional Partner. This partnership reflects our commitment to promoting healthy lifestyles while supporting one of Zimbabwe’s most iconic football clubs.
” We look forward to growing together and serving both the teams and the Bosso family throughout the season,” Gwebu said.
The collaboration extends beyond match-day fruit packs. Highlanders FC and Willsgrove will work together on wellness campaigns designed to promote healthy eating and lifestyle choices both inside the dressing room and within the wider Bulawayo community.
The aim is to use the club’s influence to encourage fans, families and young players to adopt better nutrition habits, turning the partnership into something that benefits the Bosso family far beyond the pitch.
The agreement will run until the end of the current season, reinforcing a shared vision between the two organisations of promoting excellence through proper nutrition and consistent player care, both on and off the field.
Willsgrove Food Market now joins a growing family of partners supporting Highlanders FC during its historic 100-year celebrations, alongside Signature Suits, FuduMedia, Pula Lethabo, and Spincity. Together, these partnerships demonstrate a collective commitment to strengthening the club’s operations, improving standards, and celebrating Highlanders FC’s legacy while building for the future.
For a club built on community and tradition, the addition of a local business like Willsgrove underscores the importance of homegrown support in driving the team forward during its centenary year.
