A new chapter unfolds in Ward 5 as the Inkunzi Centre transforms into a vibrant skills hub, empowering youth and vulnerable women with vocational training.

This revamped space, once a bustling beer garden, had fallen into disrepair but is now breathing new life.

Councillor Nkomo, Ward 5 representative, expressed excitement about the launch.

“Collectively, we can reimagine Bulawayo because the old industries of old cannot exist in their old form.

” We need to reimagine the old, empty factories and warehouses into sustainable production units, innovation hubs, and vocational training spaces.”

The partnership with Bulawayo Projects Centre will see 100 young individuals receiving training in motor mechanics, welding, carpentry, and hairdressing, starting June this year.

Councillor Nkomo praised the collaboration.

“The office of the councillor is delighted to have facilitated this partnership which will empower young people from the ward with life-changing skills.”

This initiative is just the beginning, with more projects in the pipeline, involving corporate sector, NGOs, and institutions of higher learning.

The future looks bright for Ward 5 residents as they acquire skills to thrive.
