The city of Kings and Queens’ award winning afro-pop star Bhila, is bringing more heat during this summer season.

If you have been following Bulawayo music, you know the name, Patriarch Welcom Joel Manyabi, the man behind the popular hits Wamuhle and Emaweni he defines himself a storyteller first.

While his sound of music which is the Afro-pop mixed with traditional influences and a lot of soul.

Last year he debuted what many artists dream of he sold out his solo concert at the Bulawayo Theatre.

Now he is back. The second edition, Bhila Live in Concert, is set for October 2 at the National Art Gallery in Bulawayo and this time it is outdoors.

Speaking ahead of the show, in an interview with My Kasi Magazine, Bhila said this one means a lot more to him because it is about fixing what he felt he did not get right the first time.

“This show is very special to me because lts a correction from the last one.this is the 2nd edition and we are going big and better, hence the change of venue to an outdoor.”

When asked why he is moving the show outside.
He responded by saying he is not just about space. It is about freedom. More people, better sound, an open sky.

He said , he can finally create the show people have been asking for since the Theatre sold out.

“The response was very positive. Because its what people asked for initially. Hence to them its great news finally they are being given what they asked for.”

He announced that Butholezwe and Fab G are among artists who will headline the event.

“Come ready to be amazed. We are creating an unforgettable experience.

This month Bhila will also headline Shoko Festival, one of Zimbabwe’s biggest stages for alternative culture and new sounds. For an artist from Cowdray Park who started by doing listening sessions at Lupane State University and Bulawayo Polytechnic with no marketing budget, that is huge.

“Yess Shoko festival is a big plartfom for me to network and most importantly learn from others,its an honour and a great privilege to be given such an opportune thus l pray it opens so many doors.”
