Bulawayo-born designer Noliwe, the visionary behind the Nolie B brand, made waves last year when her breathtaking blazer suit clinched the coveted title at Mister Africa International. Modelled by King Future Nyoni, the reigning Mister Africa International, the blazer suit was a masterpiece of African fashion, seamlessly blending cultural elements into a powerful statement of unity and heritage.

The design paid tribute to African heritage and the spirit of togetherness, resonating with audiences across the continent and beyond. The fabric, prominently recognized as Zimbabwe’s national fabric, was primarily white, symbolizing peace. This choice reflected King Future’s advocacy for silencing guns across Africa, particularly in conflict-ridden nations such as the Democratic Republic of Congo, Sudan, the Sahel Region, and Mozambique.

Black leather accents added depth and meaning to the suit, representing the continent’s history of adversity and the resilience of its people. These elements honored the courage of African children in refugee camps, who, despite overwhelming hardships, persevere in their quest for education and leadership.

At the heart of the design was Zimbabwe’s national bird, the fish eagle, a powerful emblem of freedom, strength, and courage. For one of Zimbabwe’s tribes, the bird is also a revered messenger of God, lending the blazer suit an added spiritual dimension.

Cowrie shells adorned the suit, symbolizing wealth and strength in African culture. Their inclusion added a touch of luxury and sophistication, elevating the blazer suit’s visual and cultural appeal.

Even a year after its debut, the blazer suit remains a hot topic in fashion circles, with collectors and enthusiasts eager to own this iconic piece. While several offers have been made to acquire it, Nolie B has remained tight-lipped about its fate.

“We’ve had a lot of interest in the suit, but for now, it’s still part of our collection,” Nolie B shared in a recent interview. “We’re incredibly proud of what we’ve achieved with this design, and we’re excited to see how it continues to inspire and influence African fashion.”

As the world continues to celebrate this remarkable creation, one thing is certain: Nolie B’s blazer suit has cemented her legacy in African fashion. This Bulawayo-born designer’s work is not only a testament to her talent but also a beacon of inspiration for the future of African design.
