Victoria Falls had double reason to celebrate last night as Roland Mzamba and Brightman Dlamini both took home top honours at the Victorian Awards. Mzamba was crowned Best Male Outstanding Model while Dlamini claimed Best Male Fashion Designer, marking a proud moment for the resort town’s creative scene.

For Roland Mzamba, the award caps a steady rise that began in Marailways.

In his acceptance speech, he called the title more than just an accolade.

“This award is a testament to a journey that started from humble beginnings from Marailways, and a reminder that where you come from does not limit where you can go.”

He thanked fans, family and friends who voted for him, adding that their belief continues to push him to grow, work harder, and represent with purpose.

Mzamba is no stranger to the runway.

He has competed in the Misters of Zimbabwe pageant and featured in several local fashion shows.

Back home in Victoria Falls, many are already voicing hope that he will soon carry the Zimbabwean flag on bigger stages like Mister Supranational, Mister Heritage and Mister Africa International.

The night was equally historic for Brightman Dlamini, the Mbembesi-born designer behind Tocar Narrations.

Already recognised internationally after showcasing at South Africa Men Fashion Week, Dlamini made history this year as one of the first three male fashion designers nominated in the inaugural Outstanding Best Male Fashion Designer category.

He was also a nominee at the 8th edition of the Bulawayo Arts Awards last year.

In his speech, Dlamini praised the unwavering support of his clients and friends and used the platform to call on the public to back local tailors.

His brand, Tocar Narrations, has now set a new benchmark by becoming the first fashion label to be nominated twice and win twice consecutively at the Victorian Awards under the fashion and design segment. It is also the only fashion brand to earn nominations at both the Bulawayo Arts Awards and the Victorian Awards, the two most recognised ceremonies in Matabeleland’s arts sector.

Together, Mzamba and Dlamini’s wins underscore the depth of talent coming out of Victoria Falls and Matabeleland at large. From the runway to the design studio, their victories signal a region stepping confidently into the continental spotlight.

Ironically at the awards ceremony,Roland Mzamba was dressed by Tocar.
