Prince Sivalo Mahlangu, founder of Magriza Made Me Cook, is thrilled to be taking part in this year’s Imiklomela KaDakamela festival, organised by Chief Dakamela.

The event promises to be a grand celebration of culture, heritage, and cuisine, with Magriza showcasing traditional Zimbabwean dishes that highlight the country’s rich culinary legacy.

“It is a profound honour to be part of this year’s festival,” says Prince Sivalo.

“Returning in a culinary capacity feels like a significant evolution for my brand. This is my second time attending, and I’m excited to share our mission of heritage preservation with a wider audience.”

Magriza’s connection with Chief Dakamela is rooted in a shared passion for cultural preservation.

“Chief Dakamela has been a dedicated follower of my work, and we maintain a regular dialogue regarding cultural preservation,” explains Prince Sivalo.

“This year, I personally pledged to the Chief that I would step into the kitchen to showcase the beauty of our indigenous foods and explicitly draw the link between our cuisine and our living culture.”

The menu promises to be a journey through history, with dishes inspired by traditional ceremonies like the King’s coronation, Inxwala, Ukuchinsa, and Umthimba. Guests can expect to taste traditional Isiswayi (pounded meat) and the prestigious royal dish, Isidlwadlwa—a rich combination of sorghum and ox-head. Slow-cooked goat meat and roadrunner chicken will also be served, alongside staples made from small grains like Sorghum (Amabele) and Finger Millet (Uphoko).

“The menu is a curated journey through historical ceremonies, showcasing the rich flavors and traditions of Zimbabwe,” says Prince Sivalo.

“Meat has always been central to these celebrations, so guests can look forward to traditional dishes that showcase the richness of our culture.”

The event will also feature a Western selection from other talented chefs, featuring slow-roasted beef, garlic bread, Greek salads, and Malva pudding, ensuring a diverse culinary experience for all guests.

Imiklomela KaDakamela promises to be an unforgettable celebration of culture and heritage and is set to be held from 3 April until the 6th KoDakamela.
