The countdown has begun for the return of the Ekhaya Worship Festival, as acclaimed Zimbabwean gospel artist Everton Mlalazi prepares to host another powerful edition of the worship gathering in Bulawayo on 24 May 2026 at Hartsfield Rugby Grounds.

Widely celebrated as one of Zimbabwe and Southern Africa’s leading gospel voices, the Tsholotsho-born minister is bringing back the festival after the success of its 2025 edition, which he described as a deeply personal milestone.

“For a long time, I’ve wanted to create something meaningful in the place I call home,” Mlalazi shared. “When I was younger, I couldn’t always afford to go to concerts and I always longed to experience that feeling of concert fellowship. This year, I’m opening the doors for others who feel the same, a desire to praise and worship the Lord in a place of joy and community.”

The 2026 edition has already received a major endorsement from main sponsor Nyaradzo Group, signalling strong support for what has become one of Bulawayo’s most anticipated gospel events. Further event details are expected in the coming weeks.

For Mlalazi, Ekhaya Worship Festival is more than a concert, it is a homecoming mission rooted in faith, access and community connection. The event reflects his longstanding vision of creating worship spaces where people from all walks of life can gather freely in praise.

Over the years, Everton Mlalazi has built a reputation not only as an award-winning vocalist and songwriter, but also as a transformative force in African gospel music. Since founding The Vine Music Ministry in 2014, he has released successful albums, led sold-out regional tours and launched initiatives that have expanded Zimbabwean gospel music beyond its borders.

From his Virtual Hymns series during the pandemic to his solo debut In the Presence, Mlalazi has consistently used music as a vehicle for spiritual renewal. His collaborations with iconic groups such as Ladysmith Black Mambazo and celebrated gospel voices like Janet Manyowa and Benjamin Dube have further cemented his standing as one of the continent’s most influential worship leaders.

Through projects like Everton Mlalazi(EM) Music, Everton Mlalazi Recording (EMR) Studios and community-driven festivals such as Ekhaya, and Celestial Chorus, Mlalazi continues to merge artistic excellence with meaningful social impact, building platforms that nurture both worship and emerging talent.

As Bulawayo prepares for another uplifting gathering in May, Ekhaya Worship Festival 2026 promises not just music, but a shared spiritual experience anchored in faith, belonging and celebration. Keep locked for the announcement of supporting acts at the festival.
