A Tribe Called Zimbabwe, established in 2013, celebrates Zimbabwean culture and heritage through fashion and architecture, promoting African identity and empowering women.
Zana Kay’s vision aligns with Chief Dakamela’s call for cultural pride and collaboration.
“What inspired the collaboration was those outfits are not cheap. She thought of producing something for the chief. And it came at the right moment.
“When we are producing our products, it needs to be packaged so that it fits for everyone,” Chief Dakamela said, praising Zana Kay’s marketing strategy.
He also emphasised identifying strengths and value when collaborating.
“When collaborating, it’s important to know what value you bring to one’s brand. And one needs to identify their strength.”
Chief Dakamela spoke about the Imiklomelo KaDakamela awards, saying.
“When you speak to communities, you’re not speaking about Nkayi and its surrounding area, but it’s for everyone. We are part of one big community so are the awards.”
He encouraged emerging brands and investors to support local initiatives.
“Now that the awards are growing, people from outside Dakamela are investing. We need to allow emerging brands to grow.”
Chief Dakamela’s message was one of unity, cultural pride, and collaboration, emphasising the importance of working together to drive community growth and development.
