Last week, the Rotary Club, in partnership with the National Blood Services Zimbabwe, hosted a Colour Rub and Family Fun Day in Victoria Falls.
The event drew hundreds of locals and tourists who took part in various activities aimed at giving back to the community—most notably, a blood donation drive.
People from all age groups—Baby Boomers, Millennials, and Gen Z—turned up to donate, showing unity and compassion in the heart of the majestic city.
Among the donors was Victoria Falls’ own award-winning model, Mister Southern Africa International, Future Nyoni, who donated blood at Shoestrings Victoria Falls.
Speaking to eKasi Magazine, Nyoni said donating blood is a civic duty and urged others to do the same.
“Today I am engaging in this special activity along with my fellow friends and families because it is the right thing to do—to save lives. I believe that we are participating in a process of giving someone a second chance to live,” he said.
With his signature phrase “Together we can,” Nyoni encouraged people of all ages to participate in such life-saving efforts:
“I believe that together we can SAVE lives, not only in Victoria Falls but across Matabeleland, Zimbabwe, and Africa if we unite and participate in such events when called to. Every pint counts, and I’m thrilled to be part of it,” said Nyoni.
The National Blood Services Zimbabwe thanked all donors in a cheerful social media post:
“To every donor who was part of this drive, thank you very much! Let’s do this again next time. Giving blood… giving life… life is in the blood.”
