The City of Bulawayo has once again put the City of Kings in the spotlight after winning the Gold Medal for Best Exhibiting Local Authority at the 116th edition of the Zimbabwe Agricultural Show (ZAS).

The prestigious recognition came during the Zimbabwe Agricultural Show which ran from 24 to 29 August 2026 in Harare under the theme “Powering Growth – Where Agriculture, Technology and Commerce Converge.”

Bulawayo brought its own strong identity to the national platform through the subtheme “City of Kings: Energising Investment in Agriculture, Technology and Commerce.”
Rather than simply showcasing the city, the exhibition placed a strong emphasis on Bulawayo’s potential as a destination for investment, innovation and sustainable economic development.
The exhibition was built around the city’s key strategic pillars, including environmental sustainability, smart-city development, economic development, governance, infrastructure and safe cities.
A major highlight was the promotion of investment opportunities in agro-processing and infrastructure development, demonstrating the potential of Bulawayo’s existing assets to contribute to economic growth and job creation.

Among the opportunities showcased were developments within the Ascot Precinct, as well as projects involving City of Kings Business Ventures, Aisleby and Good Hope Farms, and Ingwebu Breweries.

The exhibition provided Bulawayo with an opportunity to tell its story beyond its traditional industrial identity, highlighting the city’s potential across agriculture, technology, commerce and infrastructure.
The Gold Medal is therefore more than an award for presentation. It represents recognition of Bulawayo’s efforts to position itself as an investment-ready city while showcasing the opportunities available to businesses, investors and development partners.

For the people of Bulawayo, the achievement is another moment of pride for the City of Kings, demonstrating that the city continues to have a significant role to play in Zimbabwe’s economic development.
With agriculture, technology and commerce increasingly shaping the country’s growth agenda, Bulawayo’s presence at the Zimbabwe Agricultural Show has provided a national platform to showcase what the city has to offer and the Gold Medal has ensured that the City of Kings stands out.
