Nkosikhona Khumalo continues to climb the ladder in the world of modelling in his province as well as in Zimbabwe, steadily adding his name to the dictionary of models in the country.
In a few years, he is hoping his name will be known as among the greatest models to ever come from the City of Kings and Queens.
Khumalo has continued winning the hearts of many, with his fan base increasing thanks to his command of the runway and his unapologetic pride in his roots.
Recently, Khumalo was coronated as the King of Bulawayo Polytechnic in Bulawayo, where he is currently a student.
The title is the latest milestone in a run that has seen him build momentum on local stages. He previously participated in the second edition of Misters of Zimbabwe, where he was crowned second runner-up and earned the position of Mister Friendship Zimbabwe.
During the competition for Mister Polytechnic Bulawayo, Nkosikhona won the attention of many as he worked the runway in his street-wear, while his suit added the icing on the cake for his journey. It was his National Ndebele traditional costume, however, that gave everyone in the room the clearest impression of how proud he is about his culture and roots.
In an exclusive chat with My Kasi Magazine, Nkosikhona Khumalo identified his hard work as pride of his culture and city.
“I don’t model just to wear clothes. I model to carry my city and my culture with me. Every step I take on that ramp is for every young person in Bulawayo who thinks their dreams are too big for their surroundings.
“I want them to see me and know it’s possible. My name will be in the books, not because I chased fame, but because I stayed true to where I come from.”
To many, the pending question is what is next for King Nkosikhona Khumalo in his career of modelling. With a growing fan base, a crown at Bulawayo Polytechnic, and a clear vision to be remembered as one of the greatest from the City of Kings and Queens, Khumalo is positioning himself for bigger runways. For now, he remains focused on representing his culture, sharpening his craft, and proving that the next great name in Zimbabwean modelling can come straight from Bulawayo.
