Mjabulisi the Poet is set to be performing at Chief Dakamela Achievers Awards which will be held at Kwa Dakamela from the 3rd to the 5th of April. Hosted by Chief Dakamela, this event is not to be missed!
Zwelithini Mjabulisi Dlamini, the 23-year-old wordsmith from Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, is a force to be reckoned with.
The talented poet, spoken word artist, and author is redefining the literary landscape with his powerful performances and poignant poetry that reflect on contemporary issues and celebrate cultural identity through isiNdebele.
As the saying goes, “A tree with strong roots laughs at storms” and Mjabulisi’s roots run deep.
His poetry is a testament to his experiences, observations, and the rich cultural heritage of his people.
With a poetry CD called “Sisempini” and co-authored poetry anthologies “Ithendele Elihle Ngelikhala Ligijima” and “Survival of the Fittest” with Portia Tshuma, Mjabulisi has already made a name for himself in the literary world.
However he’s not done yet as he is expected to share his talent with tens of thousands who are expected to attend The Dakamela Awards.
He told My Kasi Magazine that it was one of the organisers team who spotted his works.
“Dr Gasolo knows me and my work, so he immediately connected me with the organisers. I’m very ready to hit the ground running, expect a massive performance,” he says.
He also has an upcoming narrative work, “Akungiqabule Mbijana”, which promises to be a thought-provoking exploration of sibling dynamics, life choices, and redemption within families and communities.
“Poetry is in my veins,” Mjabulisi says.
He has performed at various events, including weddings, birthday parties, and cultural festivals, and has even showcased his work for Zimbabwe’s First Lady, Auxillia Mnangagwa. His contributions to literature and performance have earned him numerous awards, including an “Outstanding Poet” award at the Matabeleland Cultural Awards.
