The residents of Nkulumane, one of Bulawayo’s largest constituencies, are mourning the tragic loss of their Member of Parliament, the late Honourable Desire ‘Moyoxide’ Moyo.

He passed away in a car accident along the Bulawayo-Gweru Highway in Shangani on Friday the 10th of October, when the vehicle he was travelling in collided with an elephant.

Four other lawmakers were injured in the crash.

The residents of Nkulumane described the late MP Moyo as a humble, caring, and irreplaceable leader.

During a tour by My Kasi Magazine at the constituency, the residents shared their thoughts on his life and legacy.

“We used to call him Moyo. He lived a humble and caring life. Differences in political views and party affiliations never affected his service to the constituency,” said one resident.

Another resident, Ncube, praised the late MP for his development initiatives and people-centric approach.

“Our area was developing through his hard work. Nkulumane will never have another leader like Moyoxide. He knew that leadership is found in people (umuntu ngumuntu ngabantu). If you asked for his time, he would respond promptly and never refer you to his assistant,” Ncube said.

The late Honourable Moyo’s notable works include:Renovating the McInn soccer and netball grounds in Nkulumane,launching the Nkulumane Renaissance Hub, the constituency’s office, in collaboration with the senator. Visiting schools, donating, and motivating learners to promote education.

The residents of Nkulumane remember the late Honourable Moyo as a unifying figure who served his community with dedication and passion.
